Working with Folders
The System section of the Explore tab lets you view or manage the global folder structure of the community.
A folder is an object that is used to group other objects. In a new community, there is no folder structure in place, so you can set up a different folder structure based on the needs of each community.
You can create folders, set security on folders, and add objects to folders. You can also publish the contents of a folder to a single package.
When you click the System root folder, or any folder or object below it, that item opens in the Content pane.
In AssetWise Web, this same folder structure is accessed by clicking the Home icon and selecting .
To Create a Folder

Select where you want to create the folder.
The selected folder opens in the Content pane. If theChild Folders topic is not displayed, click the Show all link.
- Expand the Child Folders topic.
- In the next available row, enter a name for the new folder in the Description field and click the Save icon at the end of the row.
To Rename a Folder
Select the folder you want to rename. The Folder form opens in the Content pane. In the Folder Name field, change the name. Click the Save icon in the action bar.

Select the parent folder containing the folder you want to rename. The Folder form opens in the Content pane. Expand the Child Folders topic. Rename the folder you want and click the Save icon at the end of the row you changed.
To Add an Object to a Folder

Select the folder you want to add object(s) to.
The folder opens in the Content pane.

Search for the object(s) you want, then drag the object(s) from the search results either onto to the folder in the Explore tab, or into the appropriate topic in the Content pane.
For example, if you are adding a document to a folder, you can either drag the document onto the folder, or into the Documents topic. The effect is the same.
To Remove an Object from a Folder

Select the folder containing the object you want to remove.
The folder opens in the Content pane.
- Expand the topic containing the object you want to remove.
- Click the Delete (X) icon next to the object you want to remove from the folder.

When prompted, click Yes to confirm removal.
The object is removed from the folder.
